What’s the meaning of this?!

Welcome to my first-ever blog. I’ve written tens of thousands of editorials and newspaper articles, and now I’ve written a book, The Last Freedom. But this is my first-ever blog entry. I feel like a 10-year-old test-driving a Jaguar. You have to know both how to drive it and where to take it.

OMG! I’ve got 2, like, BTW, write like this? Will this go out into space, like, forever? Will some alien civilization see this and turn back, perhaps saving the Earth from total destruction or enslavement?

Whatever. Actually, I know where I want to test-drive this blog. I plan to use it to tell stories about my incredible, unlikely journey that took me from Topeka, Kansas, to Vienna and to the teachings of Viktor Frankl. And to invite you to tell me your stories.

I wrote this book because so many people know about Viktor Frankl — people have come to my talks on him with his Man’s Search for Meaning in hand — but so many people do not know of him. He was not a self-promoter, and his message about finding meaning in life’s moments isn’t as sexy as Freud’s, and then Dr. Frankl died in-between Mother Teresa and Princess Di.

I wrote it in novel form to make the jump to the entertainment media. To see Viktor Frankl’s name up in lights, and beneath it “…and time permitting, Frank Sinatra.”  (OK, I borrowed that joke from the movie Top Secret.)

Anyway, lots of wonderful things have happened along this journey, and I’ll share some of them in this little cubby of cyberspace. And I hope you other Frankl fans will do the same.

So, let me get the discussion started:

Hello. My name is Michael. And I’m a Franklphile.

More to come…

Michael, I’m so proud of you and can’t wait to read your book. I think in these turbulent times, this book ought to be an inspiration for everyone that all things are possible. That Hope IS Possible, no matter what the circumstances or no matter what is going on in one’s life. Truly you are a Gift from God and may He continue to richly bless you in all you do.

Michael, Heard you on the Harley Show this am. We home school our youngins and Man’s Search is required reading, senior year of h.s., partly because I want them to be old enough to absorb and remember it well. I get concerned that upcoming generations may not be exposed to great people and minds of the 20th cent. like Frankl, Schweitzer, Tom Dooley, etc. Therefore, so glad to see your work emerge. A great way to express his ideas. Like Albert Camus put it: “People think in images. If you want to be a philosopher, write novels.” I’m looking foreward to reading it and promoting it to others. Ad Majorem Gloriam Dei!

What a great read. You have taken an extremely important book and made it more valuable and meaningful for a new group of readers. We are telling all of our clients that it is a must read book.

Mike, Earlier, I wished for you to “break a leg” with your book, The Last Freedom, and you came through beautifully, breaking all legs. First rate book, first rate read; not only interesting, but while learning something about Viktor Frankl and his thoughts and work, I also kept caring about the book’s characters.

    Michael,

This is a fantastic book. I bought it and read it through in the same day. It was so nice to meet you at the book signing. The presentation of Viktor Frankl’s ideas on life in the form of a novel is a wonderful idea. It introduces people to him in an exciting and interesting way. The reader can see him as a real person and identify with the characters in the book. I couldn’t put this book down. I wanted to know what happened to the real characters and the fictional ones. I agree that every person’s life has meaning and if someone can just help them find it they will know that life is worth while. You also inspired me to buy some of Dr. Frankl’s books to include Man’s Search for Meaning. Thank you, Michael. I look forward to more from you. I also hope this book will go on to become a movie.

Wow this was probably one of the most effective articles I’ve had the chance to come across on the topic so far. I don’t understand where you learn all your info but I am impressed! I’m going to send a few people on over to take a look at this post. Awesome, just plain awesome. I’m have just started getting into writing articles myself, nothing close to your writing potential (doh) but I would love for you to check out my article someday! right here
